Zellige tiles are renowned for their ancient handcrafted production process, which gives them a unique charm. Each Zellige tile is distinct, featuring small imperfections like tiny cracks and chips that reflect their rustic nature; these are not considered defects but rather part of their authentic character.

Hand-moulded and hand-cut, no two Zellige tiles are alike. This artisanal approach ensures a variety of colours, textures, and sizes, showcasing the true authenticity of Zellige. The glaze colours also vary from tile to tile due to traditional hand-glazing methods, meaning the tiles you receive may differ slightly from samples or displays in local showrooms. This variation is part of what makes Zellige so beautiful.

To achieve the best aesthetic, always blend Zellige tiles before installation. Avoid installing them directly from the box; instead, unbox and lay out all the tiles, mixing them to achieve an even distribution of colour and imperfections.

Given the high colour and texture variation in our handmade Zellige tiles, we recommend sampling multiple pieces to fully appreciate their unique characteristics.

For tile cuts, breakages, and future repairs, we suggest a standard overage of 10%. However, if your project aims for a less authentic look with minimal natural imperfections, consider increasing your overage to 20% to allow for selective choices.
