Product story

Brick-Format Natural Limestone: Dijon Tumbled Limestone Floor Tile 40.6 x 20.3cm

A versatile 40.6 x 20.3cm brick format in tumbled natural limestone, bringing warmth and timeless character underfoot – Dijon from Hyperion Tiles, your official Fired Earth stockist.

Quarried natural limestone in soft, neutral cream and beige tones, Dijon is scattered with delicate fossil markings and gently tumbled across both edge and surface for a relaxed, lived-in feel. No two pieces are quite alike, so every floor is entirely your own – equally at home in a period cottage or a pared-back contemporary scheme.

As a porous natural stone, Dijon must be sealed before and after grouting. Once protected, it wears beautifully in kitchens, hallways, bathrooms and wet rooms, and lends itself to seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Product Frequently Asked Questions

Is Dijon Tumbled Limestone 40.6 x 20.3cm a real natural stone?

Yes. Dijon is genuine quarried limestone, tumbled across both edge and surface. Each tile carries its own soft cream and beige tones, delicate fossil markings and natural fissures, so shade and character vary piece to piece — part of the charm of a real stone floor.

Does the 40.6 x 20.3cm Dijon limestone need sealing?

Yes — it is a porous natural stone and must be sealed. Apply a quality impregnating stone sealer before grouting and again after laying, then reseal periodically. Use only pH-neutral stone cleaners and avoid vinegar, bleach or acidic or strongly cementitious grouts, which can etch limestone.

Where can I use the Dijon 40.6 x 20.3cm — can it go outdoors or in a wet room?

Once correctly sealed, Dijon suits internal and external walls and floors, kitchens, hallways, bathrooms and wet rooms, and works beautifully across indoor-outdoor transitions. Fired Earth offers matching cobbles for outdoor areas; the stone is frost-hardy for sheltered exterior use, though no formal frost or slip rating is published, so take advice for exposed external sites.

Can I order a sample of Dijon Tumbled Limestone 40.6 x 20.3cm?

Yes. As an official Fired Earth stockist, we offer free cut samples to collect from our Ascot showroom at 67 High Street, or posted to your door for a small postage charge. Call our team on 01344 620211 for help.

Installation & Care Tips

Installation & care

  • Sealing (essential): This is porous natural limestone. Seal with a quality impregnating stone sealer before grouting and again after laying, and reseal periodically to guard against staining.
  • Adhesive & Grout: Fix with a flexible white or natural-stone adhesive and a soft, tonal grout. Avoid acidic or strongly cementitious grouts, which can mark limestone.
  • Layout & Cleaning: Dry-lay first to blend the natural shade variation and fossil markings. Sweep and mop with a pH-neutral stone cleaner; never use vinegar, bleach or abrasive products, which will etch and dull the stone.
